Troubleshooting - Windows 3.1
Both the scanner and the SCSI board should be visible from within Adaptec's SCSI Interrogator.
If the message 'SCSI Host Adapter is not detected' appears, different solutions are possible -
- Check the SCSI board is firmly seated and secured in the ISA expansion slot.
- If your system supports Plug and Play, try setting the ISA Plug and Play mode to 'disable' in the Advanced Configuration Options of SCSI Select. Your host adapter must be configured manually. If needed, you can use the jumper on the host adapter to modify the I/O port address. Please refer to the included documentation of the SCSI host adapter.
- If your system does not support Plug and Play, the message indicates that there is a resource conflict; other devices are probably using the same I/O port address and/or IRQ. Change the settings one at a time with the jumper on the host adapter and SCSI Select utility.
- If you are using EZ-SCSI on a Windows 3.x system, try running the EZ-SCSI installer from the MS-DOS prompt. If this installation procedure detects the card, you have to reboot and rerun the windows installation.
If the message 'FotoLook does not find a scanner' appears, different solutions are possible:
- Check the scanner is powered on.
- Check the SCSI cable is properly connected.
- Use Adaptec's SCSI Interrogator to check if the scanner is visible on the SCSI bus. If it is not visible, the message indicates either a SCSI problem, driver problem, or a malfunctioning component. Verify the installation of the 150X SCSI board.
- Verify the installation of the DOS ASPI drivers in your CONFIG.SYS file. Your CONFIG.SYS file should contain a line similar to the following one,
- DEVICE=C:\SCSI\ASPI2DOS.SYS /D /P140 /Q10
Verify if these drivers start properly when you reboot your machine.
- If the previous solutions do not have any effect, try to start with a minimal system configuration. This will enable you to track possible software conflicts between the ASPI drivers and other drivers in your CONFIG.SYS file. When you press F8 while booting, MS-DOS 6.x will give you the possibility of confirming the installation of each device driver

Troubleshooting - Windows 95
The SCSI card hangs the computer when it is fitted inside the computer. This only affects computers with the Gigabyte BX chip set motherboards inside them (ie Advent 8570 and Advent 8590). A BIOS upgrade from Gigabyte will be available shortly to cure this problem.
Sometimes when you install the SCSI card, it gives you a missing file message, normally an MPD file. The location of this file on the AGFA CD is in the D:\ENGLISH\UTILITY\ADAPTEC.
To check if both the SCSI card and the scanner are detected properly, carry out the following instructions,
- Click on Start / Settings / Control Panel.
- Double click on the System icon.
- Select the Device Manager tab.
- Open the AGFA scanners icon. (It should show the scanner name)
- Open the SCSI controllers icon. (The Adaptec SCSI card should appear)
- If either of the above have either a red cross or a yellow exclamation mark next to them then remove them and restart the computer.
If the message 'The SCSI Host Adapter is not detected' appears, different solutions are possible,
- Check the SCSI board is firmly seated and secured in the ISA expansion slot.
If the message 'FotoLook does not find a scanner' appears, different solutions are possible,
- Make sure you are switching the scanner on before the computer.
- Check that the SCSI cable is connected properly.
- Use device manager to check that the scanner is being seen properly. If there is anything with a yellow exclamation mark next to it, remove it. Also check to see whether you have a section called "Other Devices", if so remove everything in that section. After that restart the computer.
- Check to make sure the host adapter and scanner have different SCSI IDs. The scanner should be on 2, the host adapter on 7.
- Try downloading the latest SCSI drivers from Adaptec's web site.

Troubleshooting - Windows NT
Make sure you do not install EZ-SCSI Lite on a Windows NT system. Windows NT incorporates its own SCSI layer. Therefore installation of EZ-SCSI Lite is not needed.
If the message 'The SCSI Host Adapter is not detected' appears, different solutions are possible,
- Check the SCSI board is firmly seated and secured in the ISA expansion slot.
- If you get error messages while starting NT, check if the device driver is running. Double click the devices icon in the Control Panel window and check the status of the Sparrow device.
- In order to run SCSI Select it may be necessary to make a bootable MS-DOS floppy disk with this utility on it. Copy all files in the \English\Utility\150X (on the AGFA Scanners CD) directory to this floppy and boot your system with it.
If the message 'FotoLook does not find a scanner' appears, different solutions are possible,
- Make sure you are switching the scanner on before the computer.
- Check that the SCSI cable is connected properly.
- Check if the scanner is visible on the SCSI bus.
- In the Control Panel, open the SCSI Adapters icon.
- If the scanner is not visible there is a SCSI problem, a driver problem or a malfunctioning component. Verify the installation of the SCSI board. Check to make sure there are no conflicts or driver problems for the SCSI board.
- Check to make sure the host adapter and scanner have different SCSI IDs. The scanner should be on 2, the host adapter on 7.
