If you need the user manual or software for your printer you can download it from the Printer Support section of the Hewlett Packard website.

GPF Error When Exiting From MS Works

When exiting from MS Works you get either a General Protection Fault, or other strange error messages.

This is caused by the Printer's OCR software not shutting down properly. The solution is, before exiting from MSWorks, hold down CTRL+ALT+DEL to display the "Close Program" window. Highlight "OCRAWARE" and select "End Task". Works should exit with no problems.

GPF Error When Installing Printer

During the installation in Windows 95, an error occurs when the Caere OmniPage LE setup begins:

 "IS20_SET Caused an Error." IS20SET

This error may occur on any PC with an S3 Inc. ViRGE PCI video adapter. Known brands are HP Pavilion, Packard Bell, IBM Aptiva, and possibly others.

A conflict exists with the video driver and the Caere OmniPage LE installer. At the point where the error occurred, the installation of the HP OfficeJet Pro 1150C and HP OfficeJet Pro 1150Cse software was complete. All that is needed now is to install Caere OmniPage LE and Adobe (TM) PhotoDeluxe.

If you are able to Cancel the error messages, without having to restart the computer:

  • Select Start, then Run.
  • Type M:\OCR\DISK1\SETUP (substituting M for the CD-ROM drive letter).
  • Select OK.
  • The OmniPage installer will now begin. Follow the prompts on the screen.

If the same error occurs during the manual install, copy the OCR folder from the CD-ROM to the hard drive, and run the install in Safe Mode.

Manually install Adobe PhotoDeluxe:

  • Insert the Adobe PhotoDeluxe CD into the drive.
  • Choose Start, then Run.
  • Type M:\ENGLISH\INSTALL\SETUP (substituting M for the CD-ROM drive).
  • Select OK.
  • The Adobe installer will now begin. Follow the prompts on the screen. When the install program asks for registration information, do not change any of the information. Simply continue and confirm the information.
  • When complete, restart Windows. All software should now be loaded for the HP OfficeJet Pro 1150C and HP OfficeJet Pro 1150Cse.

When loading the software for the HP OfficeJet Pro 1150C and HP OfficeJet Pro 1150Cse, the following error occurs:

"Cannot Find HPCOLA16.DLL."

The error may be a problem with Plug and Play compatibility. Install the HP OfficeJet Pro 1150C and HP OfficeJet Pro 1150Cse using the "Add Printer Wizard".

NOTE: If the message "New Hardware Found" is received, choose "Do not install the driver, windows will not prompt you again". If this choice is not available, choose Cancel.

  • Choose "Start", "Settings", and "Printers".
  • Double-click on "Add Printer".
  • In "Add Printer Wizard", choose "Next".
  • When asked if it is a local or network printer, choose "Local", then "Next".
  • When the list of manufacturers and models displays, go to the lower right and choose "Have Disk".
  • Insert the CD-ROM into the drive and type "D:\INSTAL" (substitute your CD-ROM drive for D)
  • Choose "Ok".
  • Verify that the HP OfficeJet Pro 1150C or HP OfficeJet Pro 1150Cse is highlighted and choose "Next".
  • Verify the correct printer port, and select "Next".
  • Choose "Yes" to set as default, and select "Finish".
  • Now, follow the prompts on the screen. This should enable the installation of the HP OfficeJet Pro software successfully.

Canon 610 Printer

Cannot establish product communication on a system that also has a Canon BubbleJet 610 printer installed.

The only way round this will be to uninstall the 610 printer, and load a Canon BubbleJet 600e driver. This does not support the full 720dpi of the Canon BubbleJet 610 printer but it will allow both printers to work together.

HP 1150C and ATI Graphic Cards

GPF with ATI Mach Video Card

Installing the printer driver on a system with an ATI Mach XX video driver, which includes the program ATIKEY, in the WIN.INI setup causes a General Protection Fault in the program ATIKEY.

Try selecting Close in the GPF error window. Usually, the fault clears and the printer driver loads normally.

GPF with ATI 3D Rage Pro Video Card

When installing the printer drivers, an illegal operation occurs. In details the file affected is MACXW4.DRV. This is the driver file for the ATI 3D Rage Pro. Go to Device Manager, Display Adaptor, click on the ATI card, and then on Properties. Go to Driver and change the driver to a Standard Display Adaptor (VGA). This will enable the drivers to be installed. When it gets to disk 2, a display error will appear saying that the program won't run with less than 250 colours. Ignore this, and it should install OK. When it's finished go back into Device Manager and change the Display Adaptor back to the ATI 3D Rage Pro.

Error Opening Toolbox

When the HP OfficeJet Pro 1150C Toolbox is opened, one of the following errors occurs:

"Printer Driver Files or Data Can Not Be Found or May Be Corrupted. Reinstall the Driver."

Or

"Unable to Create Necessary File."

Close all other applications before trying to open the Toolbox:

Press CTRL + ALT + DEL to display the Close Program window. With the exception of Explorer and SYSTRAY, select each item in the list in turn and click End Task. After each task is ended, press CTRL + ALT + DEL again to display the Close Program window, and End Task on another listing, until all are ended except for Explorer and SYSTRAY.

If error persists, then,

  • Select Start/Settings/Printers.
  • Right-click on the HP OfficeJet Pro 1150C, and select Properties.
  • Choose the Details tab, then Port Settings.
  • Take the check out of both boxes, "Spool MS-DOS print jobs" and "Check port state before printing", select OK, then OK again.
  • Try opening the toolbox again.

If the error still persists,

Turn off bidirectional communication in the printer driver. This will NOT disable scanning:

  • In Windows 95, select Start/Run.
  • Type in HPMCFGXC, and select OK.
  • Select Continue to modify the printer .INI file.
  • Take the X out of the Bidirectional Communication box, and select OK.
  • Restart Windows to make the changes take effect.
  • Try opening the toolbox.
