Epson LQ-1500

The Epson LQ-1500 was Epson's first 24 pin dot matrix printer and was launched in 1984. It offered both greatly improved print quality and print speed over its 9 pin stablemates. The printer was offered with either a Parallel or Serial interface as standard. The parallel version has three sets of DIP (Dual In-line Package) switches two located on the rear panel of the printer and the third mounted on the main controller board below the printhead timing belt. The serial version has five sets also located on the rear panel and main controller board. These switches control certain printer functions and default settings, the details of which are listed below.

A DIP Switch (SW1) is mounted on the main controller board. This switch is used when an optional Cut Sheet Feeder is used. All other switch settings on (SW1) are factory set and do not need to be changed.
