Case Disassembly

Remove the retaining screws and slide the case away. To remove the bezel release the plastic retaining clips located on both sides of the chassis.

Recovery Disc

The recovery system uses 2 CDs: XP1 and a Supplement CD. A normal recovery is as follows -

  • To begin, insert the XP1 CD into the drive and restart. When prompted press 'R' to boot from the CD.
  • A white progress bar "Starting System Restore" is displayed.
  • A Windows XP Setup style interface is displayed. By default the system uses a Non-Destructive recovery which preserves user data and applications. To begin press the Next button.
  • A message reminding you about trying the System Restore utility is displayed. Press Yes here.
  • User Data is now backed up and the recovery process begins. This takes approximately 10 minutes.
  • The disk will be ejected and you will be prompted to press the Restart button.
  • The computer will restart and load into Windows. Settings are updated and the computer is restarted.
  • The recovery process is complete.

If you want to format the drive choose ADVANCED at the first screen. There is an option for System Restore: Quick Format.

Note: If the hard drive is replaced, or has been formatted, the recovery will prompt you to insert the Supplement CD during the recovery process. Not all models need or come supplied with a supplement CD.
