Known Issues
Graphics VLS3 Card
This machine has an S3 805 VL Graphics chipset. If there are any problems running the machine in a particular resolution, the problem can be caused by a couple of things. With the machines bus running at 40 Mhz, try introducing wait states. Also in the System.ini file under the [Display] heading, check the Aperture Space, if set to 100, alter to 16.
Not Detecting CD Rom
The CD Rom disappears from the Device Manager. There is a solution to this
- Restart in DOS mode.
- Type ATTRIB SYSTEM.1ST at C:\ prompt
- If it shows you have a file called SYSTEM.1ST in the root directory, then you are up and running.
- Go into C:\Windows directory.
- Attrib SYSTEM.DAT -R -S -H
- Copy System.1st to C:\Windows directory, saying Y to overwrite.
- Restart PC
Windows will now start up and inform you that it is setting up your hardware. It will at some stage ask for the OPTI disk to be reinstalled. Put the disk in when asked for. The CD ROM should be back in Device Manager.
Installing Windows 95
If you wish to install Windows 95 you must upgrade the PC to at LEAST 6MB of RAM.
